πŸ”Ή Overview

With the new versioning and revisioning function, changes to work instructions can be managed in a structured manner, tracked, and published in a controlled manner.

This improves traceability and enables ISO 9001-compliant documentation.

Why use versioning and revision control?

πŸ”Ή Complete documentation – Every change is saved as a version and remains traceable.

πŸ”Ή Flexible working – Changes can be saved without being published immediately.

πŸ”Ή Secure release – A revision must be actively published in order to be visible for production.

πŸ”Ή Easy restoration – Previous revisions can be restored at any time.

πŸ”€ Step-by-step guide

Step 1️⃣: Create a new version of a work instruction

  1. Navigate to the work instruction editor.
  2. Open an existing
  3. work instruction or create a new one.
  4. Make changes to the instruction.
  5. Click Save – a new version will be created automatically.
  6. The version remains in draft mode and is not yet published.

πŸ“Œ Use draft mode to prepare changes step by step before they go live.

Step 2️⃣: Publish changes as a revision

  1. Open a saved version in the work instruction editor.
  2. Check all changes made.
  3. Click β€œPublish” to make the current version visible to everyone and create a revision.
  4. Assign a revision identifier (e.g., revision number).
  5. The new revision replaces the previous one – there is always only one active revision.

πŸ“Œ If multiple changes have been made, you can decide whether you want to publish individual changes or all of them as a new revision.

Step 3️⃣: Restore previous revisions

  1. Navigate to the version history of the work instruction.
  2. Select the desired previous revision/version.
  3. Click on the three dots on the right-hand side of the revision/version.
  4. Click on β€œSwitch to” to select this as the version.
  5. Click on Save again and check the β€œPublish” box.
  6. The current revision will be replaced by the selected older revision.

πŸ“Œ Previous revisions remain archived and can be viewed at any time for documentation purposes.

Step 4️⃣: Use cases for versioning & revisioning

⚑ Quality management – Changes to work instructions remain documented & traceable.

⚑ Optimize production processes – Work instructions can be improved and tested step by step.

⚑ ISO 9001 & compliance – Versioning supports audit-proof documentation for audits.
