Barcodes simplify and accelerate work instruction retrieval and process
execution. In Setago, you can configure custom barcode structures to match your specific production environment. This allows workers to scan barcodes and instantly access relevant instructions or processes.

🔹 Overview

Why Use a Custom Barcode Structure?

✅ Faster Work Instruction Retrieval – Scan to instantly open the correct instruction

✅ Improved Process Control – Assign unique barcodes to workstations or process steps

✅ Flexible Configuration – Define barcode formats that fit your company’s structure

🔀 Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1️⃣: Navigate to Barcode Settings

  1. Go to Company Settings > Work Instructions > Barcode Settings
  2. Click on Edit

Step 2️⃣: Define your Barcode structure

  1. Define what your barcode type is
    • Choose between Work Instruction Barcodes
    • or Process Search Barcode
    • or a combination of both
  2. Work instruction barcodes are used to find and start a specific work instruction (e.g. material number or article number)
  3. Process Barcodes are used to find and continue ongoing/ paused processes. These are barcodes which are unique for a certain process (e.g. serial number)

Step 3️⃣: Example configuration for a combination barcode

  • Process Search Barcode: starts on the 3rd letter and is 4 letters long
  • Work Instruction Barcode: starts on the 7th letter and is 5 letters long

Scanning the code AB0506FLOSS will use 0506 for searching running processes and FLOSS for searching work instructions.

Step 4️⃣: Test Your Barcode Setup
  • Use a barcode scanner or mobile device to scan the generated barcode.
  • Ensure that the correct work instruction or process opens automatically.
